Governor Adil denies blocking NPM rally in Lainya

Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has denied allegations that he blocked the National Patriotic Movement from holding a political rally in Lainya County.

The NPM accused the governor of violating political freedoms despite the party reportedly obtaining the necessary approval. The rally was initially planned for July 18 before being moved to July 25 to avoid clashing with the governor’s visit to the area.

NPM official Dr Muzamil reportedly said the party informed authorities about the new date, but the event was stopped at the last minute.

However, the governor’s office said it was unaware of and not involved in any circumstances that affected the rally.

The office described the allegations as unfair and misleading, saying NPM had presented no credible evidence linking Governor Adil to the decision.

It also called on the party to avoid unsupported accusations and follow the appropriate channels when raising political concerns.

The goal stated is bringing governance closer to the people, plus strengthening law and order and recognizing community identity within Tonj East.

That’s a pretty big administrative shift. It should mean more local decision-making and services right at the Payam level for those areas.

JUBA, 30 July 2026 — The Tonj East Football Team has received significant financial support from senior leaders and prominent sons of the community as it gears up for the upcoming games of the Warrap State Peace Tournament in Juba.

According to the team management, all donations were received in cash today, demonstrating strong community backing for the team ahead of the competition.

Donations received:
1.Gen. Ajok Makom — $2,000 USD
2.Gen. Keer Kiir — 1,000,000 SSP
3.Gen. Manyang — $1,000 USD
4.Capt. Thon Tat Ngot — $200 USD
5.John Matoch Machar — $100 USD

Team officials said the support will help cover preparations and logistics as Tonj East represents the community in the state peace tournament, which aims to promote unity through sports.

The management expressed gratitude to the leaders and community members, noting that the gesture reflects growing solidarity and commitment to supporting youth and sports development in Tonj East.

The President of the Warrap State Peace Tournament (WSPT), Augustino Deng Dut Parek, has fired eight senior executive members from their positions with immediate effect .

According to the decree, the officials relieved are:
