3 mistakes that could be breaking your child’s hair RIGHT NOW 🚨
And the scary part? A lot of these habits can look completely normal.
1. Detangling from the roots down.
Starting at the roots can create more knots, pulling, and unnecessary breakage. Start at the ends and slowly work your way up.
2. Styling the hair too tight.
A style can look neat without putting unnecessary tension on the scalp and hairline. Tight does NOT mean healthy.
3. Skipping nighttime protection.
Cotton pillowcases can create friction, dryness, and breakage while your child sleeps. A satin bonnet or satin pillowcase can make a huge difference.
Healthy hair usually isn’t about doing more.
It’s about being consistent with the right habits.
Moisture.
Gentle handling.
Protection.
Those three things alone can completely change the way your child’s hair looks, feels, and retains length over time. 🤎
Save this for your next hair day and share it with another mom who’s trying to build a healthier routine.
Sometimes the answer is NOT another product.
A lot of parents end up in this cycle: your child’s hair feels dry, so you buy something new. It still feels dry, so you try another leave-in. Then another oil. Then another “miracle” product somebody recommended online.
But if the routine underneath all of that isn’t consistent, the products can only do so much.
Healthy hair care is really built in the habits:
• cleansing the hair and scalp regularly
• conditioning and detangling with patience
• adding moisture before the hair gets extremely dry
• protecting the hair at night
• being consistent enough to actually see what’s working
And this is exactly why I created The Lazy Mom’s Guide to Healthy Hair.
I wanted to give busy moms something practical. Not a routine that takes all day. Not 15 products you need to run out and buy. And definitely not something that makes you feel like you need to be a professional hairstylist just to take care of your child’s hair.
I want you to understand the WHY behind what you’re doing so you can build a routine that actually makes sense for your child and your lifestyle.
Because once you understand the basics, hair care starts to feel a whole lot less overwhelming. 🤎
The Lazy Mom’s Guide to Healthy Hair drops September 1.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re constantly buying products but still don’t know what your child’s hair actually needs… this guide was made with you in mind.
Save this post and send it to another mama who’s tired of guessing. 🤎
Hair care is a SKILL, not common sense. And somebody needed to hear that. 👀
Nobody comes into this world automatically knowing how to properly care for hair.
You have to learn it.
You have to learn how to detangle without causing unnecessary breakage.
You have to learn the difference between hair that needs moisture and hair that simply has product sitting on top of it.
You have to learn how often YOUR hair needs to be cleansed.
You have to learn how much tension is too much.
You have to learn which products actually work for your hair instead of buying everything someone recommends online.
And sometimes… you have to unlearn the hair practices you grew up thinking were normal.
That’s why I don’t believe in making people feel bad because they don’t know how to care for their hair—or their child’s hair.
You can’t know what nobody ever taught you.
But once you learn better, you can start building better habits. ❤️
Healthy hair isn’t about knowing everything.
It’s about being willing to learn, practice, pay attention to your hair, and stay consistent.
