When your child gives you the one-word answer… don’t give up. 🤍
“Fine.”
“Okay.”
“Nothing.”
“I don’t know.”
It can be frustrating when you’re trying to connect and they seem completely uninterested in talking. But sometimes, our children need to know that the door is open before they’re ready to walk through it.
So instead of getting frustrated, try:
“Okay. I’m here if you want to talk.”
Keep asking the questions.
Keep checking in.
Keep showing interest in their world.
Keep creating opportunities for connection.
You don’t have to force the conversation.
Because when we respond with frustration, they may learn that opening up comes with pressure or consequences.
But when we respond with patience and consistency, they learn:
“My parent wants to hear me. I can talk to them. The door is always open.”
And sometimes, the conversation you’ve been waiting for comes when you least expect it — in the car, at bedtime, while making dinner, or when they suddenly walk into your room and start talking.
Don’t give up on the connection just because they aren’t ready to talk today.
Keep the door open.
They may walk through it when they need you most. 🖤
My life looks a little different this school year and I LOVE it! We are slowing down… life is too stressful and chaotic and I didn’t want that for my kids.
We get to take our mornings and be outside in the sun, do some breathing, exercise, be kids.
I am fortunate enough I was able to change my work schedule around to be home more with my kids. Best decision ever.
It’s okay to slow down. 🖤
Motherhood can be very difficult, especially when we put unrealistic expectations on what being a “good mom” looks like.
Take a step back and slow down, enjoy this time in your life.
If you feel that you’ve been struggling with this, send me a DM, let’s schedule some counseling or breathwork. 🖤
Healing doesn’t only happen by talking about your feelings.
Sometimes it happens by moving through them.
So let’s get moving!
You can’t shame yourself into feeling motivated.
Many people believe they’re lazy, unmotivated, or lacking discipline when they’re actually operating from a dysregulated nervous system.
When the body feels unsafe, the brain prioritizes survival over growth.
Before asking yourself, “What’s wrong with me?” try asking:
✨ How stressed am I?
✨ When was the last time I truly rested?
✨ What does my body need right now?
Healing isn’t always about pushing harder. Sometimes it’s about creating enough safety for your nervous system to finally let go.
It can be scary to take a leap and begin your healing journey, but if this sounds like a feeling you’re interested in, let’s get you started on that journey.
Feeling more connected to yourself and everything around you feels amazing 🖤
DM me and let’s get started.
Small frustrations don’t usually cause the blow up.
It’s the 20 little things we never slowed down long enough to process.
The comment that bothered you.
The rushed morning.
The stress sitting in your chest.
The irritation you pushed aside because you “didn’t have time.”
By midday, pause for a few minutes.
Check in with yourself.
What are you carrying from this morning that you don’t need to keep holding onto?
Then do it again at night.
Process it. Release it. Breathe through it.
Emotional regulation isn’t about never feeling overwhelmed.
It’s about creating small moments throughout the day to let emotions move through you instead of piling up inside of you.
Those little resets can help you feel calmer, lighter, and more grounded.
