Sweetie Bees

One of the first products I ever released was my Dog Paw & Nose Balm, and it was because of that dog you can see below, Oakley.

This product has gotten incredible feedback over the past three years, and I’ve heard many stories from people talking about how much it made a difference in your dog's life.

I am so glad to say that this product, as well as several of my other products, are now available at Bone & Co. on Princess Street.

It is an amazing new retail shop uptown for pet owners.

Hello everyone, I am happy to report that my hives are doing incredible! 

This year has been a bit harder for me to share regular updates, but I wanted to quickly talk about how my Bees are doing.

I did my largest honey harvest ever this year and am starting to get all of that honey Jarred up and ready to go. We collected well over 700 pounds of honey.  I will do another post soon with exactly how many jars we end up getting.

Outside of the harvest, I started the year with nine hives and after some good splits, thanks to my mentor Angus King helping me get new queens, I am up to 15 hives, which I’m really pleased with.

I have been away for the past few weeks and I wanted to say thank you to everyone for your patience with me responding to messages and emails.

Something people might not know about me is that in addition to my bees, I am really passionate about aviation. I am a sargeant with air cadets. 527 Simonds is my squadron.

I was completing an advanced aviation training at the military base in Greenwood Nova Scotia. It was really great. I learned so much and I received a special honour called the ANAVETS medal, which stands for Army Navy & Air Forces Veterans. It is awarded to the top cadet in the course in recognition of leadership, accomplishment, movtivation and cooperation.

It was a special honour that I am proud of.
And now I am really happy to be back with my bees!

I will be out doing hive checks this week and will share an update about my colonies. And thank you to my parents, who have been taking care of my hives while I was away.

I’m up to 14 hives - the most I’ve had so far!

We ordered five queens and spit our hives over the past couple of days.

My dad and I also spent a few hours giving all my extra bee boxes a fresh coat of paint in preparation to build up our colonies.

Painting the outside of a hive protects the wood from rain, snow, and sun, helping the equipment last for years. Strong, dry hive boxes mean a better home for the bees and healthier colonies.

It has been cold and wet so far this spring, which is not great for the bees. Looking forward to sunnier skies.

Scientists say bees are the most important species on the planet, so I thought today, on World Bee Day, I would share 5 reasons why bees are so awesome and important:

1- Bees pollinate about 1 out of every 3 bites of food on the planet

2- Honey contains natural antioxidants and enzymes to support our health, and it never spoils

3- A single bee can visit up to 5,000 flowers in one day

4- A queen bee can lay up to 2,000 eggs per day

5- A healthy hive has 50,000+ bees, all working together as a team to keep the colony alive

I am grateful for the chance to get to keep learning about how amazing and important bees are, and to do my part two help them grow. 💛🐝

Hello Everyone! I opened up my final hives last weekend and wanted to let you know how they've been. Out of the 13 hives I had gone into the winter with, I suffered a pretty standard loss of 1/3 of my hives, which was pretty positive considering the dry summer we had.

Of these hives, one especially stood out to me. At the very end of last year I had made a VERY last minute split with a leftover queen and brought them to my own backyard. This was the hive I had no real hope for at the end of the day, the grunt of the bunch, but they persevered and I am so happy to say that they will be joining the rest of my hives on the Alpaca farm shortly!

So I start this season with 9 hives and hope to get up to close to 20. I have started feeding with sugar water and pollen patties.

It is a perfect day for Violet Fest at the Saint John Public Gardens. I have done this market for three years and they always have wonderful flowers, food, and local businesses. I’m here 11am to 5pm today. 🌺 🐝
