There’s something about being self-employed where you’re technically never fully “off” 😂

There’s always a message, an appointment, a booking, an idea, something I could be doing.

But I’m also learning that part of building a business I actually love is letting myself enjoy the life I built it for too.

So for a few days… palm trees, sunshine and trying not to check Vagaro every 14 seconds 🌴😂

I’ll be back soon, refreshed and ready to get back behind the chair.

Anyone else terrible at actually switching off?

All in a days work 😎🙌

turned 34 on the 20th and started it exactly where I needed.

A few days in Kelowna with a lot of laughing, sleeping in, eating well, being outside, celebrating, doing absolutely nothing productive at times 😂 and spending time with some of the people who know me best.

Kelowna has become one of those places where I can fully exhale. The pace feels different, I’m around people I love deeply, and I always seem to leave feeling lighter, grounded and a little more like myself again.

This past year has been full in every possible way. Building my business, growing, changing, figuring s**t out as I go. So having a few days where nothing was required of me felt really, really good.

Coming into chapter 34 feeling grateful, rested, very loved and with a very full heart.

Not a bad way to start another trip around the sun. 🤍

The extension industry loves a buzzword.

Tiny bonds. Low placement. “Slavic” hair.

Cool.

But none of that matters to me if the quality, sourcing, processing and standards behind it can’t back it up.

I care about what actually performs behind the chair and over time.

That’s the difference between something that looks impressive online and something that actually has substance.

Show me the standards. 👀

I learned this industry from women.

I’ve been taught mostly by women, mentored by women, challenged by women, inspired by women, and surrounded by incredibly talented women for my entire career. So when I say I think men can have an easier path in this industry, I’m not saying it for shock value.

I mean it.

I’ve watched women show up every single day, build massive businesses, create incredible work, educate, lead teams, raise the standard and still have to prove themselves over and over again.

Meanwhile, qualities that can immediately give a man credibility can be received completely differently when they come from a woman.

Confidence can become “attitude.”
Ambition can become “too much.”
Leadership can become “difficult.”
Knowing your worth can somehow become arrogance.

And that’s the part I’m not okay with.

I love this industry, but I think we have to be honest about the fact that talented women are not always rewarded, recognized or listened to in the same way.

I will always stand with women in this industry. I will always support them, learn from them, say their names in rooms, share opportunities and celebrate the hell out of their wins.

Because so much of what I know, who I am behind the chair, and the career I’ve been able to build has women written all over it.

Women are not the competition.👏

They are the reason so much of this industry is as incredible as it is.

And I’ll never be quiet about that 🙏❤️
