🔬 Researching today for better eye treatments tomorrow.

Meet John Mulhern, a PhD student completing a research placement with us from TU Dublin.

John’s research focuses on eye disease and the search for better treatments and, ultimately, potential cures for conditions that can affect our sight.

At Progressive Vision, we’re delighted to support the next generation of researchers and to play a part in advancing our understanding of eye health.

🎥 Watch our reel to hear more from John about his research and his time with the Progressive Vision team.

Glaucoma is often called the “silent thief of sight” because it can gradually damage your vision without obvious symptoms.

The good news? Early detection and the right treatment can help protect your sight.

That’s why regular eye checks are so important - even when your vision seems fine. As a general rule, aim to have your eyes checked at least every 2 years, or more often if advised by your eye care professional.

🎥 Watch our reel to learn more about glaucoma treatments and how we can help protect your vision.

👁️ What are we still missing in our understanding of eye disease?

Conditions such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD) are complex - and there is still much to learn about what is happening beneath the surface.

Through Eye-D research with Trinity College Dublin and Research Ireland, we’re helping explore eye disease at a deeper level - connecting clinical findings with what’s happening at an immunological level.

The goal? To deepen our understanding of eye disease and help inform the eye care of the future.

Exciting research is underway. Watch this space. 💙

👀 August is Children’s Eye Health & Safety Month 👀

A new school year means new classrooms, new teachers… and lots of time looking at the board! 📚✏️

If you’ve noticed your child squinting, sitting closer to screens, struggling to see the board, or complaining about their vision, it may be time to have their eyes checked.

At Progressive Vision, our experienced paediatric ophthalmology team understands that children can sometimes feel anxious about an eye appointment. We take a gentle, child-friendly approach and do our best to make the whole experience relaxed — and even fun!
