I was recently interviewed for the Irish Examiner about being a neurodivergent friendly salon. Being neurodivergent myself I understand how daunting it can be to be in a new environment with lots going on, loud music, feeling judged for being different, getting overstimulated easily and feeling like I cannot sit still and need to move around so I kept all that in mind when opening up Hair by TayTay and I try my best to make it feel like home for everyone that walks in our doors.

If you don’t want to chat and rather go on your phone or read a book? No problem tell me/show me what we’re doing today and you can relax silently for the rest of the appointment without the pressure of having to have a conversation if you don’t feel like it. Want a quieter time when the salon isn’t super busy? Try give us plenty of notice and we will book you in during our quietest timeframes of the day. If we’ve done most of the cut and you want it another bit shorter? No problem it’s your hair you tell me how you want it and we can do it snip by snip to make sure you’re happy with the length and feel of it! I don’t have a magic wand but you bet I will try everything in my power to get your hair as close as possible to the photos of inspiration that you bring in ❤️ need a wiggle? Hop up and stroll around the salon to your hearts content your not in prison confined to a chair spend your appointment in whatever way makes you feel comfortable 🥰
