When the rains begin, make this one little Ayurveda switch.

In Kerala, that beautiful reddish drinking water you often see has a very simple secret - Pathimugam (Sappanwood). ❤️

Monsoon brings cooler weather, dampness and often changes in the quality of our drinking water. It is also the season when colds, coughs and digestive disturbances tend to become more common.

Ayurveda has a wonderfully simple seasonal practice: boil your drinking water with a small piece of Pathimugam.

Apart from giving the water its characteristic reddish hue, Pathimugam has traditionally been used for its digestive and cleansing properties. And the simple habit of drinking properly boiled water during the rains is itself a sensible way to reduce exposure to water-borne infections.

Boil. Sip warm. Keep it simple.

Sometimes seasonal wellness doesn't need an elaborate prescription - just a small change in the water you drink every day.

Monsoon Ayurveda, one sip at a time. ❤️

After arriving in Bali from the constant stimulation of a high-charged metropolitan environment, I can literally feel the shift in my nervous system.

The greenery, humidity, slower pace, natural light, sounds of birds and insects, cleaner air, and reduced sensory overload — all of it feels like a gentle reset for the Central Nervous System.

From an Ayurveda perspective, excessive travel, noise, screen exposure, irregular schedules, constant alertness, and urban hyperstimulation aggravate Vata dosha, particularly affecting the nervous system and mind. Clinically, this often presents as anxiety, hypervigilance, poor sleep, mental fatigue, restlessness, shallow breathing, and burnout.

Nature has a regulatory effect.

Research increasingly shows that natural environments help reduce sympathetic overdrive (“fight or flight” mode), lower cortisol levels, regulate breathing patterns, improve vagal tone, and activate the parasympathetic nervous system — the body’s “rest, repair, and heal” state.

Ayurveda understood this deeply.

The grounding quality of the earth element, the moisture and softness in the air, exposure to natural circadian rhythms, sensory quietness, slower movement, and connection to nature all help stabilize aggravated Vata and restore balance to the mind-body system.

Sometimes healing is not just in medicines or treatments.

Sometimes the nervous system simply needs safety, stillness, rhythm, nature, and breath.

And Bali truly feels like therapy for the nervous system.

Ayurveda doesn’t ask, ‘What disease do you have?’
It asks, ‘Who are you beneath the imbalance?’ 🌿
Vata. Pitta. Kapha.
The three doshas shape our body, mind, digestion, emotions, energy, and the way we move through life.
Understanding your dosha is not about labels — it is about understanding your natural rhythm, so you can work with your body instead of against it.
A brief introduction to the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda… and perhaps, a deeper introduction to yourself.

The Bhagavatam ZOOM sessions by Dr. Nedungadi Haridas, conducted under the aegis of H.H. Swamiji Sri Hari Prasad of the Sri Vishnu Mohan Foundation, offer an exploration of the timeless wisdom of the Śrīmad Bhāgavatam.

Rooted in the Foundation’s vision of interpreting India’s spiritual and philosophical heritage for contemporary life , these sessions go beyond storytelling—bringing alive the deeper essence of devotion (bhakti), dharma, and inner transformation.

Dr. Nedungadi Haridas presents the narratives of Lord Krishna and the Bhagavatam, 12th Cando, 12th chapter - a series of 25+ episodes on Zoom every Monday and Thursday with the first Introduction session on 16th April 2026, not merely as scripture, but as a living guide to navigating modern challenges with clarity, surrender, and higher awareness. The episodes seamlessly blend philosophy, practical wisdom, and introspective inquiry, making them accessible to both seekers and scholars alike.

Through these discourses, participants are invited to reconnect with the essence of Vedic knowledge—transforming understanding into experience, and knowledge into a way of life.

In Ayurveda, the spring equinox, what we call as Ritu Sandhi - (the period when two seasons meet), marks the shift into Kapha season—a time to cleanse, lighten, and reset the body as nature awakens.
