Long ago, there was an old military post on this site, which is later linked to the time of Emperor Frederick Barbarossa. Then a religious building (convent) was built on this site. After that, in 1367, the construction of the current castle began on the same site.

This castle was built on the orders of Cardinal Egidio Albornoz. At that time, the Pope (the government of the Catholic Church) wanted to strengthen his control over this area of ​​​​Italy. Therefore, this castle was built to keep an eye on the roads, routes and surrounding cities.

The castle was completed around 1378. It was not only a military castle, but for many years the Pope, Cardinals and important ruling people also stayed here. Therefore, this castle was also a symbol of power and government.

Over time, this castle was attacked several times. It was captured in 1395, then retaken. In 1527, enemy armies attacked the city of Narni, damaging the city, but the castle still stood.

In 1798, the French army captured the castle. Later, in the 1800s, the castle was also used as a prison.

In 1906, the castle was bought by a Russian prince. Later, it returned to state ownership. Today, it is a historic site in the city of Narni, where people come to visit.

Today, the Roque de Narni is a beautiful historical castle. It reminds us of the history, power and old wars of Narni
