Your hair can change after having a baby. But that doesnāt mean you donāt have options.
Postpartum shedding can be so confronting.
Youāve just been through pregnancy, birth, sleepless nights and a huge amount of change ā and then you start noticing more and more hair in your brush, shower and pillow.
For some women, the shedding is temporary and the hair gradually recovers. For others, the changes in density can linger and leave areas feeling noticeably thinner.
This client came after experiencing postpartum shedding, and this is her second healed session with Nue Strand.
And honestly⦠look at that progress. š„¹
Weāre seeing an improvement in the overall appearance of density, with new and finer hairs contributing to a fuller-looking scalp.
This is not overnight. Itās not a magic fix. And results will vary from person to person.
But supporting the scalp and creating the right environment for healthy-looking hair can be an important part of the journey.
If postpartum shedding has left you feeling less confident, you donāt have to ignore it.

Itās interesting where inspiration can come from.
Sometimes itās a business podcast, a conversation or something youāve experienced. Other times, itās sitting in church on a Sunday and hearing something that hits a little differently and that was me last Sunday. Matthew 5:39.
It got me thinking about business, the industry, how we respond.
Because building a business isnāt just about what you achieve. It also reveals a lot about your character along the way.

What if your scar didnāt have to stand out? š¤
Scar camouflage isnāt about making a scar disappear ā itās about reducing the contrast so it blends more naturally with the surrounding skin.
For this client, she wanted to soften the contrast on her front shoulder area, near armpit which was a small area. We colour-matched the scar to her natural skin tone and carefully implanted pigment to soften the difference between the scar and surrounding skin.
One session. A difference but not always dramatic.
Every scar is different, and most Iāve worked with require more than one session depending on the scar tissue, colour and how the skin retains pigment. Results also continue to settle as the skin heals. We also did a second session after this.
Have a scar youād like treated?
Send me a photo or book a consultation and letās see if scar camouflage could be right for you.

What an awesome weekend at the Aotearoa Lash Conference & Lash Industry Awards! š
A huge thank you to Rauwhiro Kennedy | Lash Artist | Founder and Sheree Miller | Lash Educator + Beauty Business Mentor for all the hard work that went into bringing this event together. You could see the thought and effort that went into all the finer details ā the theme, the atmosphere and the whole weekend was just so well done.
This was my first time attending, and as Iāve said before, I get so much inspiration from outside of my own industry. I was so grateful for the opportunity to exhibit and share more about paramedical tattooing, while also catching up with familiar faces and meeting so many incredible women from both NZ and Australia.
I really enjoyed the speakers and panel, seeing all the creative lash designs, and of course celebrating everyoneās success at the awards night.
A huge congratulations to all the nominees and winners ā it was so lovely seeing so many women being recognised for the work theyāre putting into their businesses and the industry and especially cool see ladies from Kapiti do so well š¤
And once again, well done Rau and Sheree and to your families and friends who helped make it all happen. Such a fabulous event and Iām so glad I got to be a part of it! X

Last night I opened my emails to find out Iād been nominated for the NZ Small Business Awards. š„¹
Honestly, it was one of those moments where you stop for a second and think how did I get here and hubby and I got chatting.
The last two years have been driven so much by my own journey in paramedical tattooing and this feeling Iāve had from the beginning that more people need to know this exists.
Not just the treatments, but the impact they can have on someoneās confidence and the way they feel about themselves.
My clients have honestly been one of the biggest inspirations for me and my why. The stories theyāve shared, the trust theyāve put in me and the connections Iāve made with so many of them have had a bigger impact on me than they probably realise.
Theyāve pushed me to keep learning, keep developing, keep upskilling and never become complacent ā because I want to make sure Iām providing the best treatment and care I possibly can.
And now I have the opportunity to take everything Iāve learnt and help train other artists to do the same ā to hopefully give them the knowledge, confidence and understanding to make a difference for their own clients and know their superpower, Thatās something Iām really proud of.
So to be nominated amongst so many incredible small businesses across New Zealand is honestly something Iām incredibly grateful for. šš½
I donāt do what I do for awards, but being recognised for something that Iāve poured so much of myself into means a lot.
I feel so blessed that I get to do something I genuinely love, keep growing, and hopefully continue making a difference along the way.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me, trusted me, encouraged me and been part of this journey so farš¤

ā¼ļø Trigger warning, self harm scars
Every healing journey looks different.
These results are after 5 sessions of Inkless Scar Revision on self harm scars. Over time weāve seen the scar tissue soften, the texture continue to improve, and the colour become more even.
One question I get asked a lot is, āHow many sessions will I need?ā The honest answer is that I donāt know until we see how your skin responds, but can recommend approximate amount ideally you should have to see progress.
Some scars improve quickly, while others take more time. The age of the scar, how it formed, your skin, and how your body heals all play a part.
My job is to work with your skin, not force it. We assess, treat, review the results, and decide what comes next.

Colour theory and creating skin tones š©āšØ
Today I created my foundation colour from the ground up ā starting with my base tones of yellow and red, then slowly balancing the colour by adding a tiny amount of blue to neutralise and control the warmth.
From there, I added white to adjust the value, then fine-tuned the tone by adding small amounts of yellow and blue until the balance was right. My first swatch was slightly too dark, so I adjusted again with a touch more white until we reached the perfect match or close to.
This is the part of paramedical tattooing that goes beyond just the technique.
We are incredibly fortunate to have technology like the Nue Reader to assist us with colour matching ā but understanding the why behind colour theory is what allows us to make informed decisions, adjust tones, and truly understand what we are creating for each individual client.
Every skin tone is unique. Skin isnāt one flat colour ā itās made up of undertones, values, saturation and how colour interacts with the skin.
This is exactly why colour theory and creating custom skin tones is a key part of our training. We donāt want artists who simply rely on a device; we want artists who understand the science behind the result.
Because the best tools in our industry donāt replace knowledge⦠they enhance it. šš½
