The Legend of Marikina
A costume inspired by “Marikit”, the mythical maiden of the Marikina River whose beauty gave the city its name “Marikit-Na" which means "already beautiful", and whose memory is preserved in the iconic 40-feet statue located at Marikina River Park.
Drenched in the flood, reviving in gold.
Marikit is drenched in floodwaters yet rising in radiant gold—a stark, beautiful metaphor for Marikina's history with rising rivers and heavy storms. The gold represents the bounty, endurance, and brilliant resilience of every Marikeño who emerges stronger after every storm.
Inspired by the ethereal legend of Marikina's namesake, reimagines “Marikit”—a maiden of grace, generosity, and unmatched beauty.
Today, her legacy lives on as a symbol of the city's unbroken spirit.
