To achieve volume, one must cut off length. 💇♀️
I chose to take off about a year and a half of growth at the ends plus an additional year of growth in the layers. Then I added Curl by Curl cutting near her head to accentuate the volume since her hair texture is smoother there.

When I got to Nashville last month, I assumed I wouldn’t need a diffuser with the heat. This is my hack for making one! ☝️

This gorgeous head of curls came in very dry, frizzy, and undefined. The goal was more manageability, better shape, and learning a curl routine that actually worked — especially because there was an upcoming wedding where the hope was to wear the natural curls.
The belief was that ringlets simply weren’t possible.
But they were.
The curls were already there. What was needed was the right technique, plenty of water, and the right approach to the natural texture.
And then… ringlets! ✨
Sometimes the biggest curly hair transformation starts with realizing your hair can do something you never thought possible.
SHE HAD THE HAIR. SHE JUST NEEDED THE SHAPE. ✨
Look at the transformation. 😍
Her gorgeous, abundant hair was weighed down by its length, hiding all that natural movement and curl.
I took out the excess weight, created shape where she needed it, and brought those curls back to life.
Same hair. Completely different energy.
This is why a curly cut is so much more than “taking off some length.”

That’s what I tell everyone that sits in my chair. You need all three to have a great style!
Your hair is a unique fabric coming from your body. In order to create the definition you want, you need an individualized haircut with specific techniques and particular products for that texture.
With her fine hair, it was important to use light products so that her curls would not be weighed down. As a low maintenance person, she will opt for plastic clips on top for volume and letting it air dry.
Do you know how to get the best definition for your curls?

Long hair can still feel light.
My client told me, “I’m starting to feel like I look like I’m in a band, and I don’t want that.”
I took off about 3 inches, removed weight through the back, and added soft layers to create better shape and movement while keeping the long-hair vibe he loves.
The result is a lighter, more polished look that’s still effortlessly long.
