I keep seeing products claiming to slow, prevent, or reverse gray hair—and I think we need to talk about it.
Gray hair happens when the cells responsible for producing pigment gradually produce less melanin. Genetics and aging play a major role in when that happens.
Can certain products support healthier aging hair? Absolutely. They can improve moisture, strength, shine, softness, and even help with yellowing or dullness.
But that’s different from claiming a shampoo, serum, oil, or supplement can reliably stop your hair from turning gray.
And if the follicle has stopped producing pigment, I think it’s fair to ask:
What exactly is the product doing to turn that pigment production back on?
There may be individual situations—like certain nutritional deficiencies—where addressing the underlying issue matters. But that is not the same as a beauty product universally reversing gray hair.
Cover it. Blend it. Highlight it. Embrace it. Do whatever makes you feel good.
I just want us to separate healthy hair care from marketing promises.
What do you think: Can gray hair really be slowed or reversed with a product, or are we being sold another beauty promise? 👇🏾
It’s shampoo time!!

Okay, y’all… quick salon-family conversation.
What you do on your own time is YOUR business. I’m your hairstylist — not the police, your mama, or your probation officer. 😂 No judgment over here!
BUT… please do not arrive at your appointment smelling like you just participated in extracurricular activities. 🌿👀
Yes, I’m talking about ma*****na.
Here’s why this is more important than you may realize:
This salon is a licensed professional environment. As cosmetology professionals in Texas, we operate under rules and standards established by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
That means when you enter my salon, you’re not simply coming over to somebody’s house to get your hair done. You are entering a professional establishment where I am responsible for maintaining appropriate health, safety, sanitation, and professional standards.
A strong ma*****na odor can linger in the salon long after you leave — on clothing, hair, furniture, capes, and throughout the space.
Now imagine my next client walking in.
They don’t know who was here before them. They don’t know where the smell came from. All they know is:
“Why does this salon smell like ma*****na?” 👀
And THAT can affect the reputation of the business.
It can make another client uncomfortable, create the wrong impression about what is happening inside the establishment, and potentially put me in the position of having to explain something that had absolutely nothing to do with me or my business.
And because my professional license and livelihood are attached to this environment, I have to protect both.
So here’s the friendly reminder:
🌿 Enjoy your extracurricular activities on your own time.
🚗 Give yourself time before coming to your appointment.
👚 If the smell is heavily in your clothing, please change.
✨ Freshen up before entering the salon.
And if you arrive appearing impaired or the odor is so strong that it disrupts the professional salon environment, your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
That isn’t about judging anyone.
It’s about protecting my clients, my professional environment, my reputation, my license, and ultimately my livelihood.
Remember: Your stylist may feel like family — and we might laugh, talk, cut up and have a GREAT time — but this is still a licensed professional business. 💜
Come comfortable. Come ready to relax. Come ready to get cute.
Just don’t bring the extracurricular activities into the salon with you. 😂🌿
Respect the space. Respect the other clients. Respect the license. Respect the business.
Now come sit in this chair so I can get you together. 😂💇🏾♀️✨
Healthy hair loves consistency—not chaos. ✨
One of the best things you can do for your hair is build a consistent relationship with a hairstylist who actually knows your hair.
When you stay consistent, your stylist gets to know your hair’s history—what works, what doesn’t, how it responds to heat, color, treatments, protective styles, trims, and even changes in density or breakage. That makes it much easier to create a long-term healthy hair plan instead of constantly trying to repair the latest experiment.
And sometimes… the secret to healthy hair is simply STOP DOING SO MUCH TO IT! 😂
Every trend doesn’t need to make it onto your head.
Every new product doesn’t need to go in your hair.
Every month doesn’t require a completely different hairstyle.
And your hair definitely doesn’t need five different stylists doing five different things.
Find a stylist you trust. Be consistent. Keep your routine simple. Give your hair time to respond.
Healthy hair is a relationship, not a one-night stand. 😉💜
